Free Subitizing Sampler Packet
What is Subitizing?
Subitizing is the ability to "instantly see" how many items are in a group or set.
Why teach Subitizing?
Subitizing is important for a child to learn so that they can more easily recognize patterns in numbers. They move from counting one by one to instantly knowing how many are in a group, a skill necessary to build math fluency.
How do you teach subitizing?
You can teach subitizing by exposing students to number patterns that they can immediately recognize, training their brains to see organized groups of numbers.
